The Boat House is a contemporary interpretation of those wonderful
boathouses usually situated on a man made lake in a designed landscape
not dissimilar to the situation created here in Lower Mill.
The house is arranged around a generous outdoor room, which gathers
all the living spaces around it. The overarching giant arbour provides
shade and privacy.
A lap pool stretches the length of the house forming an edge to
the outdoor deck with the boathouse beneath.
The sitting room sits on the deck with an upper terrace on its
roof providing a generous sun deck for the bedrooms.
The house is orientated to take maximum advantage of views and
sun with the dining space opening onto a morning terrace and the
sitting room and deck orientated to the evening sun. The high midday
sun will dapple through the arbour with the gentle lapping of the
water from the boathouse below.
